Topic

English: The Trap of Expensive Trends: True Wealth According to Iqbal

Eligibility

Open to school students.
Participants must be up to 15 years of age.
Only one entry per participant is permitted.
Speeches may be delivered in English, as selected during registration.
Last date for registration is 4th November, 2026.

Competition Format

The speech must focus on the vision, philosophy, message, and enduring ideals of Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
Each presentation must be completed within 3-4 minutes.
Participants are encouraged to present original ideas supported by logical arguments and relevant examples.
Brief reference notes may be used; however, excessive reliance on written material is discouraged.
Visual aids or presentation props are permitted only when they enhance the speech and do not distract from the presentation.
Competition will be placed on the 08th and 09th of November, 2026 at Al-hamra Lahore Arts Council.

Judging Criteria

Performances will be evaluated on the basis of:

Content relevance and originality
Knowledge and understanding of the topic
Organisation and clarity of ideas
Language proficiency
Delivery, voice modulation, and articulation
Confidence and stage presence
Audience engagement and overall presentation

Rules & Regulations

1. Performance: The speech must address the assigned theme and remain relevant throughout the presentation. Participants must adhere to the allotted 3-4 minute time limit. Speeches must be the participant's original work.
2. Originality: Plagiarism or the unauthorised use of another person's work is strictly prohibited. Any participant found presenting copied or AI-generated content as their own may be disqualified at the discretion of the judging panel.
3. Presentation: Brief reference notes may be used if required. Visual aids or props are permitted only when they support the presentation without causing distraction. Participants are expected to maintain a neat, respectable, and professional appearance.
4. Code of
Conduct: Participants must demonstrate respectful and professional behaviour towards judges, organisers, fellow participants, and the audience. Any form of misconduct, offensive language, or inappropriate behaviour may result in immediate disqualification.
5. Judge/s: The decision of the judge/s panel shall be final and binding. Scores will be awarded strictly according to the announced judging criteria.
6. Awards: The Top Three participants will receive cash prizes. Certificates of Merit will be awarded to the Top 10 participants. All awards and recognitions will be presented as determined by the organising committee.
7. Disqualification: Participants may be disqualified for violating competition rules or guidelines, exceeding the allotted time without reasonable cause, submitting or delivering plagiarised content, displaying inappropriate or disrespectful conduct, or failing to comply with the instructions of the organisers or judge/s.
8. General
Provisions: The organising committee reserves the right to amend the competition rules, schedule, or format whenever necessary. Any changes will be communicated to participants prior to the competition. We encourage all participants to engage in meaningful dialogue, celebrate the enduring thought of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, and contribute to a respectful, intellectually enriching, and inspiring competitive environment.
